Stanimirka lost her husband when he stepped on a mine 4 years ago. Since then, she struggles to provide for her family, as there is very little support given to surviving family members of mine victims.
Living in a remote region of the country, she lives off her cow, a few chicken and from what grows in her garden. Out of economic need, her son Simo, aged 21, continues to work in the same forests where his father lost his life. She is portrayed here with her two grandsons.
